Devotional - who's your boss?
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. " -James 1:2-4 (ESV)
Hi,
At the moment I’m reading Fortify, being rooted in God’s plan for work and business. It’s preparation and research for an upcoming podcast with author Jason Davis.
I was a few pages in when these few words spoke to me:
“We seem to quickly forget that God controls the outcome. If God wants your sales to spike, He’ll do it. If He wants them to plummet, He’ll do it. He wants you to learn lessons along the way so that you become more Christ-like.”
Yes, I quickly forget that I’m not the one steering the ship…
I realized (again); whatever I’m doing with my talents, what type of business I’m building, ultimately, it’s God who decides what happens.
Which can be “failure”. (Latest podcast is about this, by the way.)
Which can be “success”. Great impact or financial growth for example.
And all is not because of me. It’s all because of God.
I find this puts things in such a different perspective.
All the trials you might face in your business (or life) are part of God’s plan.
All successes you experience are part of God’s plan.
All is from God.
How does this reminder of who’s actually your boss—who steers the ship—impact you?
Shall we praise the CEO of our businesses? Give thanks to our provider who gives exactly what we need!
Pray with me:
Thank you, Lord, for your goodness.
For your guidance.
For the plans you have for our lives!
For the trials. And for the opportunities.
Thank you, for this community of Jesus-loving entrepreneurs!
Amen.
With love,
Jane
