🎯3 ways you can stay on top of your goals in 2024

READ TIME: 3 minutes

Hi dear readers,

Whether you’re freelancing, working on a side hustle, or building a business full-time, staying on top of your game is important.

Why?

  1. It saves you time

  2. It produces results more quickly

  3. It keeps you from getting distracted

At the back of my mind, there’s always a voice saying: “You’re a steward of the things you’re given, including time. Use it wisely.”

That voice—that motivation—made me create 3 things in my life that helped me to stay on top of my game.

I’ll share these 3 so you can pick whatever works for you. You too, can redeem your time.

1- Regularly reviewing your goals

If you’re in business, you should have goals. Or at least a vision of what you’re pursuing. Since I checked my goals regularly, I experienced more direction in my business. Which then resulted in hitting the targets as set.
Depending on the time you spend on your business, you might want to check your goals weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

The key here is to check them.

Every time you see your goals, you can review how much closer you have gotten.
Until you have achieved them, you can think of tasks for completion. This way, you never have to derail from your aim.

Say bye to distractions and hello to clarity 🙋‍♀️!

2- Prioritizing

Prioritizing. Not the fanciest word, but it’s for a reason many business people talk about it.

After you have set your goals and reviewed them, you need to pick what goal you will work on first. In other words, you need to decide what goal is most important to achieve.
All tasks related to that goal are your priorities. This way, it becomes super easy how you spend your workday.

But Jane, how do I know what goal is a priority?

Good question.

I think the 80/20 rule is a good one to go by.

The 80/20 rule: 80% of outcomes (or outputs) result from 20% of all causes (or inputs) for any given event.

Example: Social media content might seem important, but is it worth the time? Will it bring you the business that you are aiming for? Or might creating a lead magnet such as a free e-book bring in more leads? Don’t get distracted, work on what’s most effective.

Then think: TINY STEPS. Don’t write an entire e-book, write one page or chapter. Make that your goal.

Though, I always want to point out that we can set goals and priorities, but if God interferes and wants you to focus on something else that doesn’t align with the 80/20 rule, do it! 😉.

3- Mastermind group

I cannot stress how important it is to surround yourself with like-minded people who will cheer for you but are also brutally honest. I’ve been hosting mastermind groups (or something similar) for years.
Participants kept saying how valuable those meetings were. But it wasn’t until I became part of one myself that I understood the priceless value of it. It only took one meeting to be more driven and focused on achieving my goals. And I got them done 😉.

In every mastermind group, there should be time to discuss accountability items. Items on that list should be tasks that you struggle to get done.

My mastermind group meets every month, but you can be part of the ones that meet weekly, bi-weekly, or even quarterly.

If you want a brief guide on mastermind groups to start one yourself, send me an email, and I’ll send you one.

One of my annual goals is to create content that is truly helpful to the readers. My mastermind group knows that and helps me to sharpen what I do.

I’m typing this email from a cafe as my father is watching the kids for a couple of hours. Born to Fly is something I do next to my part-time day job (who was a client of mine before they offered me a contract).

You see, I have to put effort into writing this email, but I make it happen because it’s on my list of goals and high on my priority list.

Thanks to the system I set up, I am encouraged to get it done.

Without it, it would have been way harder.

Dear reader, I pray some things in this blog will motivate you and help you get things done.

If there is anything that you want to hear more about, just let me know. I want to help you from the bottom of my heart to become that time-efficient, Jesus-loving solopreneur.

I might not have all the answers, but I’d love to search for them together.

Blessings,
Jane
