DEVOTIONAL - Is God making you wait for answers? Me too.
"But those who wait for the LORD [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired." — Isaiah 40:31 Amp.

Hi Reader,
I read this Psalm:
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
~Psalm 27:14
Wait.
Wait for the Lord.
Be strong and take heart in the meantime, and…
…wait.
Wait.
Patience is not yet my strongest suit. Although I have grown in it, I still want direct answers to my questions.
Like:
…God, what is the name you want my child to have?
…When will Jeremy give his life to you?
…When will I get a crystal clear vision for this project?
…Should I work with this client?
Many questions, but the waiting time doesn’t get any shorter. God is not replying to text messages within an hour. Sometimes, I really wish He did.
Because, in those periods of waiting, it feels as though I’m standing still. As if I’m not moving and I can’t go on.
But perhaps, God is making me wait for a reason.
And that reason may be something that’s waiting for me in that period of idling.
Like rest.
Or a deepening of my relationship with God.
Character building.
Who will tell?
Oftentimes - but so often not - we see the reason for waiting when we look at a situation in hindsight. When we’ve been through it and know the result.
On the one hand, that’s pretty cool. On the other hand, it’s pretty frustrating. I want to know now!
It means there’s only one way to go about it: In every season, I have to surrender to God—knowing that He has all the answers. He is in control, and He’ll reveal in His time what’s good for me.
It requires acceptance.
Faith.
Trust.
It requires letting go. Surrendering.
It requires shifting the focus from me to God ← Which might be the hardest.
Less of me, more of God.
God magnified in me. Bigger and bigger.
Every time I wait for an answer from God, I remind myself of growth in nature.
Just like plants start like a seed sowed in the ground, so start my questions.
I plant. I wait, I nurture, and let the seed grow and transform into a flourishing plant.
God grows in us during a time of waiting when we focus on Him.
He wants to give us answers, but above all He wants a relationship with us.
Can I surrender not having an answer in my period of waiting?
Can I engage in the invitation for a deeper relationship with Him—not letting an unanswered question stand in the way?
Can you, Hannah?
I find it takes practice.
Failure and getting up again.
But if there’s a will, there’s a way.
Blessings,
Jane
