Devotional - if you're tired and want to give up

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (NIV)
Matthew 11:28

Hi,

That verse was my grandpa's favorite before he died. He wasn't a believer until he got ALS and couldn't speak anymore because his muscles didn't allow him to.

I'm forever grateful God saved him through his illness.

The only person I could relate that verse to was my grandpa.
But, this week, when I got back from the Netherlands...
...woke up at 3 AM because of a jetlag
...got up in this half-asleep-half-awake state of mind...
I had a meltdown.

It broke my heart I had to say goodbye to my family again--especially now that I'm pregnant and Covid measures make things so complicated and uncertain.

Going back to work felt too overwhelming and any direction seemed to be missing, leaving me in despair and doubt.

Then my grandpa's verse came to mind, and cried out:

God, I'm SO tired!

So tired of everything.
My emotions.
My train of thought.
My search for clarity.
My situation of uncertainty.

I just want to be okay. Feel okay. But all I feel is I want to give up...

And God said: I am your Father. You can come to me if you're tired.
And I'll give you peace.

That's exactly what He did.

Will you turn to Him too when you're tired of business/life/relationships/Covid etc.?

With love,
Jane
