Devotional - measuring success

"For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. " (NIV)
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10

Hi,

I think you and I both know that we're not supposed to measure our success by worldly standards.

But if I am to measure my success by God's standards, what does that mean?

Especially when running a business, when being solely responsible for what I do, I would want to know the answer.

If money isn't the factor determining a successful business--cause it isn't, right?--then what is?

What measurements are Godly ones?

Would it be obeying His 10 commandments?
I bet.

Would it be to measure if I'm reflecting Jesus in my business?
A human, yet fully God, who did everything in contact with His Father.
Who served others before Himself,
who washed feet,
who humbled Himself and took on the cross,
who trusted God and His provision,
who did everything with excellence,
who made disciples and told the Good News,
who did what was expected of Him...

Even though Jesus didn't leave a note "specifically to entrepreneurs", I'm sure we can learn more about Godly standards from Him.

Any that come to mind to you?

With love,
Jane
