Devotional - it's my life?

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others." (NIV)
Philippians 2:3-4

Hi,

Do you know that song by Bon Jovi "It's my life!"?

It goes like this:
It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

Hmm, when I compare that to Philippians 2:3-4, Bon Jovi couldn’t be more off. The lyrics show me that this is an interpretation of given life that the world came up with.
It’s a reason why many businesses are built for the owner, the founder, instead of for the client.

I love the music of the song, but I also realize that the Bible (which I love more) gives me a different perspective on my given life. I have to value others above myself and look at their interests. That is what my life and business should be about. But it’s easy to fall into the default of “it’s my life”.

*phone ringing* Mom, not now. I'm busy.
*phone ringing* Dear friend, I’m not going to pick up my phone because you have finally decided to call me back.

*new email* Okay client, last week you didn’t have time because of whatever reason, well this week my schedule decides.

...Those aren't great examples.

Then what is?

How are you trying to apply this verse of Philippians to your entrepreneurial journey these days?

Because I know it ain't easy...

With love,
Jane & Born to Fly team
